Peder Hansen, "The Bright Blue Sky"

Act 1, Scene 1

A captain, I, and this, my boat,

Rich fishing lies ahead.

I’ll sail through waves of golden wheat

And grow my family’s bread.

The corn will soar and then grow more,

Potatoes flooding in the dirt,

And then we’ll build our church.

Beret, "All Seed Lost"

Act 2, Scene 5

It’s time for us to go back home.

There’s nothing here for us now.

You’ll feel alive on ocean foam,

Fighting with sails, not a plow.

Soon we’ll sail through our happy fjord,

Back where our spirits always soared,

There where our home was like heaven.
